School Bag Essentials

When I was at school, I always made the mistake of leaving packing my bag until the last minute, I would be running out the door already 10 minutes late, frantically trying to gather all my belongings, leaving homework’s behind and forgetting I had PE that day. This just made the rest of my day a lot more complicated and stressful than it needed to be.

So, whether it’s your first day of primary school or your last year of University, a simple checklist may be a gentle reminder of most things you will need for an average day.

20 things every student should have in their bag:

  1. Pens and pencils
  2. Highlighters
  3. Notebooks or binders
  4. Textbooks
  5. Calculator
  6. Phone charger
  7. Headphones
  8. Tissues
  9. Plasters
  10. Hand sanitiser
  11. Deodorant/body spray
  12. Hairbrush and hair ties
  13. Chapstick
  14. Mints or gum
  15. Water bottle
  16. Healthy snacks
  17. Lunch money
  18. Small Umbrella
  19. Medication
  20. Laptop (if needed)

Obviously, ensure you have a strong, sturdy bag that will withhold the weight of all your books and essentials. Don’t get caught up on the pretty handbags and forget you need a zip! If it rains all your work and belongings will be ruined. I would also recommend a bag with thick straps to save them digging into your shoulder and making your walk home feel ten times longer!
